These terms are the agreement between you and ÆRAS, operated by Scott Petrowski (a sole proprietor based in Manitoba, Canada). In these terms, “ÆRAS”, “we” and “us” mean that business. By using ÆRAS (the website, the radio stations and any paid feature) you agree to these terms, the Privacy Policy, the Refund Policy, the Ad Policy (for DJ Reads) and the Copyright page.
Questions or requests: use the Contact page.
1. What ÆRAS is
- ÆRAS is an online radio service built for AI-generated music. It has seven era stations: ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, ’00s and TODAY. Each era is one shared station. You can tune in and stop, but you can’t skip or pick what plays next.
- Tracks are submitted or licensed by their creators and reviewed in our booth before they air. We don’t promise that any track will air, stay on the air or reach a chart.
- Charts and Awards use likes and requests only, as described on the site. They are for fun and have no cash value unless we say otherwise in writing.
2. AI and fictional hosts
- The station hosts (DJs) are fictional characters. Their voices are AI-generated, and their names, looks and personalities are original creations. They are not real people, they don’t imitate or clone any real person’s voice or likeness, and any resemblance to real people, living or dead, is coincidental.
- What hosts say on air is written or approved by us. It isn’t a personal endorsement by any real person.
- Music on ÆRAS is made with AI tools and is submitted or licensed by its creators. Song titles, artist names and cover art belong to their creators.
- ÆRAS Stars aren’t hosts. Star pages and Star avatars are made by users with Star Maker (section 16). They aren’t ÆRAS hosts, don’t speak for ÆRAS, and aren’t endorsed by ÆRAS or its hosts.
3. Who can use ÆRAS
- You must be 13 or older to use ÆRAS.
- To buy anything, submit a track or order DJ Reads or Pro Audio, you must be the age of majority where you live, or have a parent or guardian’s permission and involvement.
- If you use ÆRAS for a business, you confirm you’re allowed to act for that business.
- Anyone who can use ÆRAS may browse ÆRAS Stars and Star pages. Fan accounts are for people 13 or older (14 or older in Quebec). Star accounts are for people 18 or older. Both need you to live in a place listed in section 16.
4. Using the station fairly
Please don’t:
- break the law or anyone else’s rights
- try to game charts or awards (for example with bots, scripts, multiple devices or paid likes)
- overload or attack the site
- scrape or re-stream our stations without written permission
- try to get into the booth or other private areas
We may limit or block access to protect the station or other listeners.
5. Prices, payments and taxes
- All prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD). The price shown before you pay is the price you pay. We don’t add hidden mandatory fees. ÆRAS is not registered for GST/HST, so no sales tax is added.
- Payments are made to ÆRAS. Card payments are processed by Stripe through Stripe Checkout. Where offered, you can pay by Interac e-Transfer instead. We never see or store your full card number.
- Current paid features and prices (we may change prices for future purchases; changes never affect an order you’ve already paid for):
- Keep ÆRAS on (tips): any amount you choose. Voluntary.
- Listener Plus: $4 CAD a month. Ad-light listening and a note when the chart moves.
- Boost: $2 CAD. Records chart interest only. It is not a play and doesn’t guarantee airtime or chart position.
- Submit pass: $7 CAD. Extra track: $2 CAD. These buy booth review of more submissions after your 5 free submissions each calendar month. They don’t guarantee airplay.
- DJ Reads: Pulse $49, Drive $149 or Marquee $399 (CAD). See section 8.
- Star Spotlight: $19 CAD for 7 days. See section 16.10.
- Star Interview: $59 CAD. See section 16.11.
- Fan Wall: $4 CAD for 7 days. See section 16.16.
- Fan Shout-out: $5 CAD. See section 16.17.
- Pro Audio: A (publish free) $0. B (download master) or C (download + publish) $1.79 CAD. See section 9.
Refunds and cancellations are covered by the Refund Policy.
6. Submitting a track (creators)
6.1 You keep your rights. You keep ownership of your music, lyrics and cover art. Submitting doesn’t transfer copyright to us.
6.2 Licence you give us. When you submit a track (through Submit or Pro Audio option A or C), you give ÆRAS a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence, for as long as the track is on ÆRAS plus a reasonable wind-down period, to:
- stream and broadcast it on ÆRAS stations, and make the copies needed to do that (for example, loudness-normalised air copies and previews in the on-air queue)
- show your title, artist name, link and cover art with it, including on charts, Awards pages and the on-air queue
- use short excerpts (up to 30 seconds), your cover art and your artist name to promote ÆRAS and your track, for example on the site, in social posts or in press materials
You can ask us to remove your track at any time through the Contact page. We’ll take it out of rotation within 14 days. Chart and Awards history that already happened may stay on record.
6.3 Your promises. By submitting, you confirm that:
- you made the track or have every right needed for ÆRAS to stream it. That covers the recording, the composition, the lyrics, any samples and the cover art.
- if you used AI tools, their terms allow you to own or license the output and to use it commercially, including broadcast and streaming.
- the track doesn’t copy, clone or imitate a real artist’s voice or likeness, and isn’t a real artist’s recording, a real company’s commercial or anyone else’s work without permission.
- it contains nothing unlawful, hateful, harassing or sexually explicit involving minors, and no private information about anyone.
- you’ll tell us before it airs if you or a co-writer belong to a performing rights organization (for example SOCAN, ASCAP, BMI or PRS), or if the recording is registered with a neighbouring-rights collective (for example Re:Sound or SoundExchange).
6.4 Responsibility. If a track you submitted breaks these promises and someone makes a claim against ÆRAS because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs, as far as the law allows.
6.5 Our choices. We may decline, remove or stop playing any track at any time, for any reason or no reason. We may normalise loudness, trim silence and add station IDs or host breaks between tracks, but we won’t otherwise edit your track without asking. We don’t pay for airplay.
6.6 Founding creators. If we offer you a founding-creator spot (for example unlimited uploads for the first 20 creators), it covers submission limits only. Booth review still applies. We may end it if it’s abused, and it doesn’t guarantee airtime.
7. Requests, likes and boosts
Requests wait on the request line and might not air. Likes count only while a song is on the air. Boosts record chart interest only. None of these guarantee a song will play.
8. DJ Reads (paid audio ads)
- What you buy: a host-read ad. You choose one of our fictional hosts to read your script on the station(s), package and daypart you pick. Packages give approximate reads per day over a set number of days. Exact times aren’t guaranteed.
- Review first: every script is reviewed by our booth before it airs and must follow the Ad Policy. We may ask for changes, shorten the script for timing or decline it. Nothing airs before approval.
- Disclosure: reads are clearly presented as paid messages (for example: “A paid message from Maple Street Bakery.”) and may show “Brought to you by” with your business name in the player.
- Your responsibility: you’re responsible for your ad’s content and for having the right to use any names, trademarks, prices or offers in it. You must keep your claims truthful and be able to back them up.
- Shortfall: if we deliver fewer reads than your package promises, we’ll refund the unaired share. If we decline your script, you get a full refund. See the Refund Policy.
The read is made with an AI voice of a fictional host. You may not use the audio outside ÆRAS without our written permission.
9. Pro Audio (mastering)
- What you get: a store-standard master of your uploaded track. The target is WAV/FLAC at 24-bit / 44.1 kHz (16-bit only if that’s the native source), around −14 LUFS integrated loudness and a true peak of −1.0 dBTP or lower. These are targets: results depend on your source audio.
- Options: A = free, airs on ÆRAS after booth approval, no download. B = paid download, not published. C = paid download and published after booth approval.
- Quality check: if your master fails our quality check, it won’t publish. For B or C you get a full refund.
- Rights: you must own or control the rights to the upload. You keep all rights to your music and to the master we deliver. For A and C, section 6 applies to the published track.
- Downloads: look up your download with your order id and email. Please save your file once it’s ready. We keep files only for the periods in the Privacy Policy.
10. Our content
The ÆRAS name, logo, host characters, host art and voices, station names, site design and host scripts belong to ÆRAS’s owner, Scott Petrowski. You may not use them without written permission, except to share links to ÆRAS.
11. Copyright complaints
If you believe something on ÆRAS infringes your rights, follow the steps on the Copyright page. We may remove material while we look into it.
12. Changes and availability
- ÆRAS is provided as is and as available. Streams can drop and features can change, pause or end. We’ll try to give notice of big changes.
- We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Changes apply from that date and don’t affect orders you’ve already paid for.
13. Limits on our responsibility
To the extent the law allows:
- ÆRAS isn’t responsible for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data.
- Our total responsibility for any claim about a paid feature is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim. For free features, it is limited to $50 CAD.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can’t be waived. That includes the laws of Quebec and other provinces.
14. Governing law and disputes
- These terms are governed by the laws of Manitoba and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
- Please contact us first through the Contact page. Most problems can be fixed quickly.
- If we can’t resolve it, the courts of Manitoba will decide, unless the law where you live gives you the right to go to your local courts.
- If you’re a consumer in Quebec or another place with mandatory local rules, those rules still apply to you.
15. Contact
ÆRAS · Contact page
16. Star Maker (ÆRAS accounts, Star pages and avatars)
16.1 Who can use it. ÆRAS accounts are for people who live in Canada or the United States. Fan accounts are for people 13 or older (14 or older in Quebec). Star accounts are for people 18 or older. Anyone may browse Star pages without an account. Make one account per person (a band or duo can share one Star account), give accurate information (including your real birth month and year), and keep your account key secure. You’re responsible for what happens on your account. If you’re under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian should read these terms with you.
16.1A Star accounts and your first song. To make a Star account, you send your first song as part of sign-up. That song is a normal submission: section 6 (including the creator licence and your promises) and the usual monthly limits apply. Our booth reviews your Star page and the song together. Your Star page goes public only after we approve it and you set it to public. If we turn down the song, your Star page stays private: you can send another song or switch to a fan account.
16.1B Fans under 18. Fan accounts of people under 18 are private (no public profile, nickname or avatar, and no messaging), can only build an avatar without a photo, and can’t make a Star account until 18. Paid extras aren’t available to under-18s for now (see section 16.18).
16.2 Your page and your licence to us. You keep the rights to your stage name, bio and links. You give ÆRAS a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, show and share your approved Star page and avatar on ÆRAS (including next to your songs, on charts and Awards, and in posts promoting ÆRAS and your music) for as long as your page is up, plus a reasonable wind-down period.
16.3 Your face only. The selfie option is for people 18 or older. If you use a selfie, it must be a photo of you and only you, taken with your permission. Don’t upload photos of anyone else, including friends, celebrities, public figures or children, or any image you don’t have the right to use. We may reject any avatar that looks like a real, well-known person or like an ÆRAS host.
16.4 Content rules. Your stage name, bio, links and avatar must not:
- pretend to be another person, artist, band or brand, or an ÆRAS host
- include nudity or sexual content, hate, harassment, threats or violence
- include political, election or advocacy content
- include real brand logos or trademarks you don’t own
- include anyone’s private information (like phone numbers or home addresses)
- break the law or anyone else’s rights
16.5 Your avatar. Once it’s approved, you may use your avatar as your artist picture, on ÆRAS and elsewhere, to promote your own music, as long as you don’t suggest ÆRAS or its hosts endorse you. ÆRAS keeps all rights in its art style, outfit designs, host characters and brand. AI-generated images may not be protected by copyright, and similar images can be made for other people. Avatars are stylised drawings and may not look exactly like you.
16.6 Review, limits and changes. Every new Star page, edit, public avatar and song link is reviewed by our booth before it shows publicly (private fan avatars get an automatic safety check instead). We may decline, remove, hide or suspend any Star page or avatar at any time, for example after a report. Free avatar making is limited (the app shows how many you have left), and we may change those limits. Making an account, a Star page and an avatar is free. Paid extras (sections 16.10–16.18) always show the price before you buy.
16.7 Deleting. You can delete your avatar or your whole account at any time from Star Maker. That removes your profile, Star page, avatar and song links. Your tracks aren’t affected; ask us through the Contact page if you want a track taken down.
16.8 Reports. Use Report on any Star page, or the Contact page, to tell us about a page that breaks these rules or uses your likeness without permission. We’ll review it and may hide the page while we look into it.
16.9 Future features. We may add social features (like follows) later. We’ll update these terms before any new feature goes live.
16.10 Spotlight. Spotlight puts your approved, public Star page in the Featured (paid) row at the top of ÆRAS Stars for the days you buy. It’s always labelled as paid. Up to 3 Stars can be in the Spotlight at once, so if it’s full we’ll show when the next place opens. Spotlight is placement only. It doesn’t guarantee views, plays, followers or chart results. If your Star page is hidden, suspended or deleted while the Spotlight runs, the Spotlight stops. If we hid or suspended it for breaking these terms, the unused days aren’t refunded.
16.11 Star Interviews.
- What you buy: a short interview segment (about 60–120 seconds) between one of our fictional hosts and your ÆRAS Star. It airs on the station you pick about 2 times a day for 7 days (about 14 plays; exact times aren’t guaranteed), and then stays on your Star page.
- AI voices: every voice is an AI stock voice. Your Star speaks with a stock voice you choose from our list, and it can’t be a voice used by any ÆRAS host. We don’t clone voices, and we don’t accept voice recordings or requests to sound like a real person.
- You write your Star’s lines. You’re responsible for them. They must follow section 16.4 and our Ad Policy: be truthful (no made-up chart positions, sales, awards, deals or endorsements), mention no other real people except to credit collaborators, include no brands you don’t own, and include no links, phone numbers or promo codes.
- The host’s lines are written by us in that host’s character. The host doesn’t endorse you or any product, and never speaks as a real person.
- Labelled as paid and AI: each interview starts and ends with a short spoken note that it’s a paid feature and that the voices are AI, and it’s labelled “Paid feature · AI-voiced interview” wherever it’s shown.
- Review: your script and the finished audio are reviewed by our booth. We may ask for changes, shorten lines for timing (keeping your meaning) or decline it. Nothing airs before approval.
16.12 DJ Reads for Stars. Stars can buy DJ Reads (section 8) to promote their music. The usual DJ Reads rules, prices and Ad Policy apply.
16.13 No guarantees. Paid Star features buy placement or airtime only. We don’t promise listeners, streams, followers, sales, chart positions or any other result. We may refuse or stop any paid Star feature that breaks these terms or the Ad Policy.
16.14 Refunds. Refunds for Spotlight, Star Interviews, the Fan Wall and Fan Shout-outs follow the Refund Policy.
16.15 Licence for interviews. You give ÆRAS the same licence as in section 16.2 to air, archive and share your interview. The host characters, their voices and the interview audio belong to ÆRAS. You may share links to your Star page and interview page, but not download or reuse the audio elsewhere without our written permission.
16.16 Fan Wall. Adult fans (18+) can buy a Fan Wall card: your fan avatar, nickname and who you’re a fan of, shown on ÆRAS Stars for the days you buy and labelled Fan Wall · Paid. Our booth checks it before it shows and may decline it (then we refund you). It’s placement only, with no other promise.
16.17 Fan Shout-outs. Adults (18+) can buy a Fan Shout-out. A Fan Shout-out is a short message read on air by one of our fictional hosts, in the host’s AI voice, about 2 times on the station and day you pick (exact times aren’t guaranteed). It’s announced as a paid fan shout-out. Use first names only, and nothing about anyone’s age, school or location, nothing mean, romantic or sexual about anyone, and no brands, links or contact details. Our booth reviews the text and audio and may edit for timing or decline it. Shout-outs aren’t kept on any page.
16.18 Purchases by people under 18. If you’re under 18, you can’t buy paid extras on ÆRAS for now. Spotlight, Star Interviews, the Fan Wall and Fan Shout-outs are for people 18 or older.
