ÆRAS

ÆRAS Copyright & Takedown

Effective October 8, 2026

ÆRAS respects creators’ rights. Tracks on ÆRAS are submitted or licensed by their creators, who promise they have the rights. If you believe something on ÆRAS uses your work without permission, tell us and we’ll act quickly.

1. How to send a copyright notice

Use the Contact page and choose Copyright or takedown request. Please include:

  1. Your name and how to reach you. Use the email field. If you represent someone else, say who.
  2. What you own: the work (song, recording, lyrics, artwork, voice or likeness) and your right to it, for example “I am the songwriter” or “my label owns the master”.
  3. Where it is on ÆRAS: track title and artist as shown, the station (era), and roughly when you heard it, or a link to the page.
  4. What the problem is: for example “an unlicensed copy of my recording”, “uses my lyrics” or “imitates my voice”.
  5. A statement that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or allowed to act for the owner.

Please don’t include settlement demands or requests for payment or personal information. Notices like that aren’t valid under Canada’s Copyright Act notice rules.

2. What we do

  • We review every notice. We usually take the track out of rotation within 2 business days while we look into it.
  • We contact the person who submitted the track, pass on your notice (without your contact details unless you agree) and ask for their response.
  • If the notice is valid, we remove the track and its cover art from ÆRAS. Past chart entries may be marked “removed”.
  • We may remove all tracks from, and stop accepting submissions from, anyone who repeatedly submits material they don’t have the rights to.
  • If a notice clearly isn’t valid, we tell you why.

3. If your track was removed (creators)

If you believe your track was removed by mistake, or you have the rights, reply through the Contact page with the same topic. Explain why and attach any proof, such as a licence, your AI tool’s terms, or project files. We’ll review it and may restore the track. We may ask both sides to sort it out directly, or wait for a court decision.

4. AI voices and likeness

ÆRAS doesn’t allow tracks or ads that clone or imitate a real person’s voice or likeness without permission. Report these the same way. They’re treated as urgent.

5. Licensed music and credits

Some tracks may use music licensed from other creators, for example under Creative Commons. Where a licence asks for credit, we show it with the track or on this page.

6. Not legal advice

This page explains our process. It isn’t legal advice. If you’re unsure about your rights, talk to a lawyer.

7. Credits

Some recordings on ÆRAS are used under Creative Commons licences. For each one we list the title, the creator, the licence and the source, and we say what we changed. Lyrics and songwriting stay with their creators. A credit here doesn’t mean the creator endorses ÆRAS. Creative Commons tracks stay under their own licences, and nothing in our Terms limits what those licences let you do.

Credits update automatically when the booth approves a track.
