DJ Reads are paid ads read on air by one of our fictional AI hosts. Every script is reviewed in our booth before it airs. This policy says what we accept. We follow the spirit of the Canadian Code of Advertising Standards and Canadian advertising law.
1. Every ad must
- Be truthful and clear. Don’t make false or misleading claims, including by leaving out important details. Be able to back up any claim (for example “best”, “#1”, “clinically proven” or “lowest price”) if we ask.
- Show real prices. A price in an ad must be one a customer can actually pay. Don’t leave out mandatory fees, apart from sales taxes. Spell out the important conditions of any offer: dates, limits, how to claim.
- Identify you. Name your business so listeners know who the ad is from.
- Be yours to run. You must have the right to use every name, trademark, slogan, song lyric, offer and testimonial in the script.
- Fit the station. Keep it friendly for a general audience that may include teens.
2. We don’t accept ads that
- are illegal, or promote illegal products, services or activities
- promote tobacco, vaping, cannabis, weapons, gambling, adult or sexual content, payday or high-interest lending, crypto-asset or “get rich” schemes, or unproven health or medical cures
- are directed at children under 13 (this is prohibited for Quebec audiences), or that pressure minors
- attack or mock people or groups (for example on race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or age), or are hateful, violent or harassing
- are political or election ads, or advocacy on contested public issues
- compare against a named competitor unless the comparison is fair, accurate and provable
- impersonate a real person or brand, imply an endorsement that doesn’t exist, or ask our hosts to pretend to be a real person
- make our hosts present the ad as their personal, real-life experience or opinion (“I use this every day”), because the hosts are fictional
- include phone numbers, links or codes we can’t check, or collect personal information in a sneaky way
- mention third-party studios, characters or brands you don’t own or have permission to use
3. How ads are presented
- Each read is clearly identified as paid, for example: “A paid message from Maple Street Bakery.” The player may also show “Brought to you by” with your business name.
- Reads air between songs. They are never made to sound like news, a host’s personal recommendation or regular programming.
- Reads use an AI voice of a fictional host. Audio is made by ÆRAS and can’t be used outside ÆRAS without written permission.
Star Interviews, Spotlight, Fan Wall and Fan Shout-outs. These paid features follow this policy too. Interviews are announced on air as a paid feature with AI voices, shout-outs as a paid fan shout-out, and cards on ÆRAS Stars are labelled Featured (paid) or Fan Wall · Paid. A Star’s or fan’s words are their own, never a host’s personal opinion or endorsement.
4. Our review
- We may approve a script, ask you to change it, shorten it for timing or clarity (keeping your meaning), or decline it. We don’t have to give a reason.
- If we decline it before it airs, you get a full refund. See the Refund Policy.
- We may stop an ad that’s already airing if we learn it breaks this policy or the law, or if we get a well-founded complaint. Unaired reads are refunded unless the ad was false or unlawful when you submitted it.
5. Your responsibility
You’re responsible for your ad, its claims and your offer. If your ad breaks this policy or the law and someone makes a claim against ÆRAS because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs, as far as the law allows.
